Lettie Lovie

  • Diabetes Awareness Month

We have taken a good days and great days approach to living as a Type 1 Diabetes family.  The road hasn't always been easy, there have been lots of tears and some pain along the way.  More ups and downs than we could ever count.  However, being able to be on this journey, accepting the goodness that has come from me, and watching our now 12 year old son live his life, reminds me that LOVE will always be greater than the HIGH and LOWS.

  • Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

Grief is like a ball in a box. At first, the ball takes up the majority of the box, hitting the sides of the box with any little movement. It’s all encompassing, nothing else really exists in that box. Over time, the ball of grief shrinks. It’s still there, but now it’s a bit smaller and there’s room for other things in the box. However, with certain movements (reminders, events) that ball of grief still hits the sides of the box and its presence cannot be ignored.

So yes, my hands are full.  Full of little hearts that need me to care for them and make things better not matter the circumstances.  Full of little minds that look to me to be nurtured and filled with the knowledge that they will need to accomplish their highest goals and dream their biggest dreams.  My hands are full of little personalities that need me to give them the space  and freedom they need to develop into their best selves.  It’s full of hopes and dreams that drive the purpose behind all of my planning and doing.

  • Balance Right?

Side note: can we come up with a different word than fertility “journey”? Journey is a way too kumbaya for what we are actually experiencing. Let’s call it fertility war or something stronger and more meaningful than a sissy walk in the park journey. Ok? Ok.
