Becoming a New Mother

When my husband and I found out we were pregnant we had only been married for 3 months. We always knew we wanted this, but we didn't think it was going to happen so quickly.  When I found out that I was pregnant it was March 17th, 2019. I was a ball of emotions, happy, shocked, nervous, etc., just to name a few. I couldn't believe that God chose me to be a mother, silly, carefree me. It still amazes me.

I had a pretty good pregnancy.  In the beginning, I was the normal tired, bloated, and hungry pregnant.  I never had any morning sickness or nausea which many women experience. However, I was obese and had a history of high blood pressure, and I was considered high risk, not too severely high risk, but enough to where my OBGYN wanted to keep an eye on me. Other than that everything went smoothly, I was six months when we found out we were having a girl.  This was crazy because I just had a feeling I was having a boy, turns out I was blessed with the most beautiful, energetic, fun-loving little girl.  I wouldn't trade being a "Girl Mom" for the world.

Anyways, time progressed and I was coming up on my due date. I believe it was October 31st, 2019 when I was at my routine prenatal check-up when my OB told me that she was concerned about my blood pressure and she wanted to go ahead and induce me.  I was fine with whatever as long as my baby girl would be safe and healthy. My due date was originally on November 21st, 2019, but I was scheduled to be induced on November 7th, 2019. I was excited and nervous. On November 8th, 2019 after 13 hours of labor, and only 5 minutes of pushing I gave birth to a 5lb, 19 inches long, curly-haired, gorgeous baby girl. Malani was born two days before my first wedding anniversary.  It's funny because my husband brought me a steak dinner and roses to the hospital and we celebrated.

Being a mother has been amazing, I look forward to watching her grow and hitting new milestones every day. She brings so much joy to my life.
